The Buick Motor Division was the financial backbone on which General Motors was established. It was said to have an all-star cast of management with names like William C. Durant, GM's founder, Charles W. Nash, founder of American Motors, Walter P. Chrysler, founder of Chrysler Corporation, Harlow H. Curtice, GM's executive, Louis Chevrolet, who with Durant started Chevrolet Motor Company, and of course David Dunbar Buick.
From it's inception, Buick cars were industry innovators. The creation
of the "valve-in-head" engine led to Buick's notoriety for power.
That recognition of power, as well as quality, has continued throughout
the . Buick has built more than 35 million cars since 1904. Its trademark
car, the Buick LeSabre, has ranked number one in U.S. full-size car
sales for eight straight years. Going into the 21st century, Buick
has redesigned the LeSabre to add torque and horse power.
