Japan's Honda Technical Research Institute began by building tools and engines. However it changed its name to the Honda Motor Company in 1948.

In 1982, the American Honda Motor Company became the first Japanese automaker to assemble cars in the U.S. Since then, Honda has produced affordable and reliable Honda cars that have made the automaker an annual top seller.

Included in the Honda car line are the Civic, the Accord, the Prelude, the Passport, the Odyssey, the CR-V and the Honda S2000 sports car.
